Kids . . . Develop, Train & Compete Like Actual Pros

TV80 Becomes Treasure Valley’s First Premier Youth Basketball League

It has been a busy week for HSB Academy and its founders.  An improved partnership with Axiom, a new facility announcement and now their latest venture.  Today, Academy Co-Founders Carson Sofro and Mike Quinney unveiled the TV80 (Treasure Valley 80), the Treasure Valley’s first and only premier youth basketball league.  Featuring 10 teams, 80 players and 1 coveted championship trophy, TV80 participants (grades 5th-8th) will develop, train and compete in the most unique playing environment ever produced in Southwest Idaho.

League games will be played every Saturday starting October 12th at HSB’s Academy Court, a new state-of-the-art training and competition venue located at Axiom in Meridian. Other league highlights include a full size NBA court, 35 second shot clock, experienced coaches (no parent coaches), reversible jerseys, live player stats, weekly award nominations, and League MVP and All-Tournament selections.

Although players are not required to tryout, a Player Evaluation Session will be held, Saturday October 6, 2018. All players will be evaluated based on their fundamental basketball skills and knowledge of the game. These evaluations will be used solely for the purposes of team selection and player information will be not be shared with any outside parties.

“We’ve wanted to run leagues like this for quite some time now but have never had a location,” shared HSB Director of Player Development Michael Quinney.  “Our new space with a full size NBA court and shot clocks is going to be a game changer.”

Limited to just the first 80 registrations per season, organizers have already acknowledged availability will be tight.  More than 20 spots were taken before any kind of public announcement.

TV80 seasons will run every 8 weeks starting in October with 6 weeks of regular season action and two weeks of playoffs.  Current offerings are limited to boys only however, organizers plan to expand into girls leagues in the near future.

Registration links and league info can be found on the TV80 section of HSB Academy’s website by Clicking Here.

NBA Sized Dream Becomes Reality In Meridian

Axiom & HSB Academy Team Up For World Class Hoops Facility

It’s been a five year journey, full of hard work, plenty of sacrifice and a whole lot of believing, but last Friday former hoop standout Carson Sofro took to social media to share the news.  The Co-Founder and Director of one of the countries fastest growing youth basketball initiatives announced via Instagram his NBA sized dream of opening a world class training and competition venue in Idaho’s Treasure Valley had finally become a reality.  Posting a full sized color rendering of the facilities brand new center court, Sofro revealed renovations on the 7,500 square foot space are well underway with operations scheduled to begin in early October of this year.

“We are beyond excited about the opportunities this partnership will provide not only for our kids but for the local community,” shared Sofro.  “Axiom and its management team really stepped up and made this whole thing possible.”

Capable of accommodating indoor athletic training, camps, leagues, as well as tournaments, HSB Academy Court as it has been called will fill a unique void throughout the valley, while also making a significant financial impact on the local and regional economy.

A place to play, learn and grow, HSB Academy Court will be the official home of HSBCAMPS, HSB Academy, and the all new TV80, the Treasure Valley’s only premier youth basketball league.  Additionally rental space has been made available to outside groups with much of it already spoken for on multi-year leases.

Facility features include a full sized NBA stadium court with shot clocks, two middle school sized practice courts and some of the industries top coaches and instructors.  With an attached fitness center, high end locker rooms and other available amenities, the overall complex has already become an attractive destination for groups not only throughout the country but around the world.

“We have been getting calls and inquiries from literally all over the world,” added Sofro.  “Professionally affiliated organizations all the way to clubs and youth teams from Asia and Central America.  The response has been truly remarkable.”

Beyond Axiom, HSB Academy and its team would like to acknowledge the following corporate sponsors who have stepped up to answer the call.  Those include, Gyro Shack, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, PC Maintenance, Goodwood BBQ, Powerade, Swire Coca-Cola, Terra West, A Higher Plane, and McAlvain Construction.

All information and media inquiry requests should be directed to or Mary Fleming at 208-513-3027.

The Session Everyone’s Talking About – 5-On-5 Draft Camp FAQ’s!

It’s the session everyone is talking about and everyone wants to attend. Piggybacking off the success of last years Draft Invitational in July, our team is thrilled to announce we have added three additional 5-On-5 Draft Camps to the 2018 summer line-up.  Locations include Meridian, Idaho; Bend, Oregon; and Mercer Island Washington.

Modeled after the NBA & WNBA’s actual draft process, participants will transition through a pro combine, live player draft, short season, and finally help their team compete for the camps coveted Championship Cup. Every participant will receive extensive evaluation and instruction on all aspects of the game, including intense one-on-one individualized and team training from our world-class staff.

Being a specialized session there have been a lot of questions and concerns that we’d like to address.  I think our disclaimer has scared a lot of parents from registering kids that would really enjoy and benefit from this camp.

Here are some FAQ’s to consider when looking at these sessions as an option for your son and daughter.

Can anyone register for these camps?
All of these camps and locations are available for open enrollment with the exception of the Draft Invitational in July.  Like the name, the Invitational is by invite only. With that being said, these camps are not a great option for beginning players. These are very competitive sessions and all participants must be comfortable dribbling, shooting, passing and defending in an intense game environment.

Are these camps co-ed?
Absolutely!  These sessions are co-educational and girls who are comfortable playing with boys are encouraged to attend. Girls will be able to use a 28.5 basketball for the combine portion of camp but game play will use a full sized ball. Any questions or concerns please contact us at

Is my child coached by actual pros?
Yes!  Each participant has the opportunity to be drafted, coached and mentored by an actual pro.  Last years coaching staff featured 6 professional and 4 collegiate players and coaches. As reported on our blog, NBA veteran Mike Harris will coach at Boise’s 5-On-5 Draft Camp in June and we are currently working on adding other NBA names to the line-up.

How many games will my child play?
Participants should expect a minimum of 5 games.  This could be more or less depending on the numbers of players in attendance and how well their given team does.

Do participants really get drafted?
As advertised, this camp is modeled after the NBA & WNBA’s actual draft process. Players will be evaluated during the combine portion of camp and then drafted in real time based on that evaluation.

When are camp dates for each location?
June 4th – 6th – Draft Camp – Meridian, ID – Open Enrollment

July 12th – 14th – Draft Camp – Bend, OR – Open Enrollment

July 16th – 18th – Draft Camp – Mercer Island, WA – Open Enrollment

July 19th – 21st – Draft Invitational – Meridian, ID – Invite Only

How do you get invited to the camp in July?
Invites or Golden Tickets are typically given to all players from last years session as well as a series of athletes from around the globe that we have previously worked with.  If you would like to be considered for an invite, please email us at

Camp Highlights Include:
Pro Combine
Live Player Draft
HSBCAMPS Reversible Jersey
Championship Trophies & All Tournament Awards
Pool Play & Double Elimination Tournament
5 Game Minimum
